OLIVEUP Project Results Presentation Event in Lesvos

On September 23, 2025, a successful event was held within the framework of the OLIVEUP project (M16SYN2-00066) in Lesvos, specifically at the facilities of the Palaiokipos A’ Olive Oil Cooperative, located in close proximity to the project’s pilot fields.

The event attracted the interest of farmers, members of the scientific community, and representatives of local production bodies, who had the opportunity to be thoroughly informed about the project’s objectives, activities, and current results.

During the event, presentations focused on:

→ the challenges faced by olive cultivation in Lesvos due to climate change,

→ the innovative cultivation practices developed to address reduced fruit set and premature fruit drop,

→ the use of biostimulants as Nature-Based Solutions,

→ and the first positive results from the implementation of the pilot actions.

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of collaboration between research institutions and producers, aiming to improve the efficiency and sustainability of olive cultivation. Participants also had the opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions, contributing significantly to the dissemination and practical use of the knowledge generated by the project.

The event concluded with an open discussion, during which producers raised questions and shared proposals for the further improvement of the applied practices, confirming the essential role of linking science with production.

The OLIVEUP project continues its course, strengthening the sustainability and competitiveness of Greek olive farming and highlighting Lesvos as a model area for the implementation of innovative solutions in the agricultural sector.
